Once again, they’ve brought attention to a new product — <a href="https://www.bikeradar.com/tags/sram/">SRAM</a> SX Eagle.</p>

<p>The Eagle line of groupsets started with XX1 and X01 back in 2016 and ever since then the 12-speed, wide-ranging technology has been trickling down to ever cheaper price points.</p>
<p>We thought they’d hit true budget status with the NX group, but this new SX groupset, which we can’t even see on SRAM’s own website yet, appears to be even cheaper.</p>

<p>We have not had any word yet from SRAM about this groupset, but we have been in touch to get as many details as possible and will update this article as soon as we hear from SRAM. We have gleaned the below from <a href="https://go.skimresources.com/?id=71026X1519955&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bike-discount.de%2Fen%2Fbuy%2Fsram-sx-eagle-dub-12-speed-groupset-875566">details on the German shop BikeDiscount.de</a> where you can pre-order groupsets and from the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/notes/bird-cycleworks/first-look-sram-sx-eagle-12-speed/1035936276591922/?__tn__=H-R">Bird Cycleworks blogpost</a>.</p>
<h2>SRAM SX Eagle specs and details</h2>
<p>Like NX, you get an 11-50t cassette, which would sit on a regular Shimano-style (rather than XD) freehub body. The rest of it looks refreshingly similar to other Eagle groupsets.</p>
<p>At the moment (from what we can see) there’s only a 32t ring available on the various crankset options (including Boost and non-Boost spacing, and its DUB axle diameter). We see no reason as to why, like the rest of the Eagle ecosystem, parts wouldn’t be compatible between groupsets.</p>
<p>According to Bird Cycleworks, you’ll be looking at 2,328g for the groupset, around 200g heavier than NX.</p>
<div class="img-container img-container–full" style="width: 1034px;"><div class="img-container__dynamic-push" style="padding-bottom: 78.1431%"><img src="https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/21/2019/05/Screen-Shot-2019-05-10-at-16.36.08-62c8d67.png?quality=90&amp;lb=1034,808&amp;background=white" srcset="https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/21/2019/05/Screen-Shot-2019-05-10-at-16.36.08-62c8d67.png?quality=90&amp;lb=940,734&amp;background=white 940w, https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/21/2019/05/Screen-Shot-2019-05-10-at-16.36.08-62c8d67.png?quality=90&amp;lb=728,568&amp;background=white 728w, https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/21/2019/05/Screen-Shot-2019-05-10-at-16.36.08-62c8d67.png?quality=90&amp;lb=556,434&amp;background=white 556w, https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/21/2019/05/Screen-Shot-2019-05-10-at-16.36.08-62c8d67.png?quality=90&amp;lb=355,277&amp;background=white 355w, https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/21/2019/05/Screen-Shot-2019-05-10-at-16.36.08-62c8d67.png?quality=90&amp;lb=340,265&amp;background=white 340w, https://images.immediate.co.uk/volatile/sites/21/2019/05/Screen-Shot-2019-05-10-at-16.36.08-62c8d67.png?quality=90&amp;lb=320,250&amp;background=white 320w, " sizes="(min-width: 992px) 940px, (min-width: 768px) 728px, (min-width: 576px) 556px, calc(100vw – 20px)" width="1034" height="808" class="wp-image-377049 alignnone size-full img-container__image" alt="A SRAM SX Eagle crankset" title="SRAM SX Eagle crankset" data-source-name="SRAM"></div></div>

<figcaption class="wp-caption-text"><span class="caption-copy"><i class="icon-arrow icon-camera-circle"></i> There are a number of crank options, all with a 32t ring at present</span></figcaption><span class="im-image-caption"> <i>SRAM</i></span>

<p>The crank comes with 175mm long alloy arms and a 32t Steel Eagle direct mount chainring. SRAM’s DUB axle standard is in full use, with bottom bracket options for most frames — threaded, pressfit etc.</p>
<p>There look to be two shifter options: a regular version, with up to five upshifts at once, and a single-shift version. This would allow only one gear change at a time, a feature found on other SRAM shifters, and something numerous electric bike manufacturers fit — the theory being the additional power put through the cranks can contribute to mis-shifts when multiple gears are changed at once.</p>
<h2>SRAM SX Eagle pricing</h2>
<p>Pricing looks like it will be very competitive, though. BikeDiscount.de are selling full groupsets with a reported RRP of €365 – this, though, includes an NX cassette and chain – it appears these items are only available to OEM customers (bike manufacturers). While we do not have official SRAM pricing, we have reported RRPs on <a href="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=1857&amp;awinaffid=489797&amp;clickref=600&amp;p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wiggle.co.uk%2Fsram-sx-eagle-boost-12sp-dub-dm-crankset%2F">Wiggle.co.uk</a> and BikeDiscount.de. As yet we have no US$ or AUS$ pricing, though we will update when we do.</p>
